How to make the perfect salmon
I want to share a trick I learned working in restaurants over the years.
It makes salmon go from “yea its good” to “WOW, this is AMAZING”
And it’s pretty simple.
It’s all about HEAT control.
This is how restaurants cook their salmon. You get a crispy outside and a well-cooked but not over-cooked center.
Here’s how it goes:
Step 1:
Turn on oven to 400F (200C)
Season your salmon with salt and pepper.
Step 2:
Get a nonstick pan super hot, add a little oil and place salmon in the pan, flesh side down. Don’t move it until its golden brown (a couple minutes). It will most likely splatter if you’re doing it right, so stand back.
Step 3:
Once the flesh is golden brown, transfer to a baking tray. Place salmon in an oven at 400F (200C) for 8 to 10 minutes, or firm to the touch.
Step 4:
Once you take the salmon out of the oven, remove it from the pan to stop cooking. Let rest a few minutes and then serve. Add a fresh sauce or salsa on top if you’d like.
(You can do this with chicken, turkey, meat, or other proteins. Just adjust the cooking time)
And just like that, you have restaurant quality salmon served at home!
Enjoy!
Hope you enjoyed these little cooking tidbits. Have an amazing weekend! 🙂
