Dairy-free Mexican Iced Chocolate 🇲🇽

This is a mash up of chocolate milk and horchata de Avena (Horchata of oats). It is satisfying and thirst quenching in the heat. Since there’s no dairy, it’s not heavy and is quite energizing. Enjoy!

Mexican iced chocolate (vegan)

(for 1)

Ingredients: 

  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 ½  cups cold water
  • 3-4 tablets chocolate (70%) 
  • 1-2 T maple syrup or coconut sugar
  • Nutmeg
  • Vanilla
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Cinnamon powder.

Directions: 

Blend oats and water, strain. Then, put oat milk in blender and blend with chocolate. Add in maple syrup, 1/2 t vanilla, cinnamon and dash of nutmeg if desired. Pour over ice and serve with cinnamon stick, or ground cinnamon. .
