5 Tips for Good Health and Wellness in 2020

If there’s one thing you should put a focus on in 2020, it’s your health and wellness. You can’t put a price on your health, and taking care of it as early on as possible is crucial if you’re going to feel your best. When you start taking care of yourself you’ll feel better mentally and physically, but getting into the habit of it can be tough.

Below, you’ll find the health and wellness advice we should all heed in 2020. Take a look:

1. Unfollow Accounts That Make You Feel Bad

We all follow accounts on social media that make us feel less than amazing. This could be because many of us started our accounts years ago when we were into different things and had a completely different mindset. Whatever the reason, if you know that an account makes you question and doubt yourself, unfollow it. You’ll feel so much better and if you really need to follow it again at a later date then you can.

2. Start Stacking Your Good Habits

One of the easiest ways to build healthy, new habits is to start stacking them up. This is outlined in more detail in the book by James Clear, Atomic Habits. For example, stacking drinking a pint of water with taking your daily vitamins could work really well. You can gradually stack more habits until you’re in a really good routine. These habits will become second nature and be extremely difficult to break!

3. Make Health Appointments and Don’t Skip Them

Why do so many people fail to prioritize their health appointments? Perhaps you’ve been meaning to go to the dentist for a while but you ‘haven’t got around’ to booking your appointment. Make your appointment with your dentist and stick to it. If you’d like both general and cosmetic dentistry, perhaps a check up and whitening treatment, treat yourself. Looking after your teeth now will help keep them healthy and strong in the future.

The longer you procrastinate on booking important health appointments the heavier they will weigh on you.

4. Avoid The Fads

Make sure you avoid any fads that you realistically know you won’t stick to. Don’t kid yourself. Going on shake diets and similar diets will only leave you feeling hungry and lethargic. These fads are so dangerous, because they can damage both physical and mental health. They’re very draining on your wallet, too! Don’t pay attention to celebrities (we’re looking at you Kardashians) that promote fads, as evidence proves they don’t even test out the products they recommend. These people will do anything for money, so don’t fall into the trap!

5. Biohack Yourself

Biohacking yourself might sound intimidating and scary, but it covers various things that can help you to feel your best. For example:

  • Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep a night.
  • Use caffeine and other drinks in moderation to perk up.
  • Exercise in the morning to make the most of the endorphin boost.
  • Stay hydrated to improve cognitive function.
  • Many people go one step further and get techy with it, but this isn’t necessary!

In Summary

Take some time to check on the energy-givers and the energy-drainers in your life. Make a list. Sometimes it may be hard to admit and confront the scary things in our life, but just take one step at a time. Ask for help, and always remember to be kind to yourself as you make these transitions in your life.

Most of us are naturally resistant to change, even if it will benefit us. Knowing that, take some time to be nicer to yourself and remind yourself of your own self-worth. With trust in yourself, you can move forward confidently, knowing you are trying to be the best version of yourself.
