Fall is here and I love me some pumpkins and sweet potatoes. Have to represent the motherland you know? Anyway, I think Thanksgiving is not long enough to enjoy yams so here is a great snack. Seems like these sweet fries are the hip bar snack these days, but these are baked not fried. So no mess and still great flavor. Only thing you miss out is the crunch, but these have a nice soft texture and are still just as addicting.
They are really simple to make which makes them a go-to fall snack for me. The key thing is just to cut them up as uniformly as you can so they can all have the cooking time.
Ingredients
3 yams
1-2 teaspoons salt
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 375 F.
1. Cut the yams in equal rectangle pieces. You can peel them if you like but its not necessary. Place them all in a bowl and toss with oil and salt to coat all.
2. Place on baking sheets, 2-3. Make sure they are just in one layer so they can brown and crisp.
3. Place in oven and turn after 15-20 minutes or until underside starts to color. Then, place back in oven about 20-30 minutes, or until slightly colored. Keep a careful watch once you see some color because they color quickly, like how toast always burns.
