Summer recipes: 10-minute Tomato Basil (al Pomodoro) Sauce

It’s summer and that means it’s tomato time! Get some fresh tomatoes and make a fresh sauce for your pasta. The tomatoes are naturally sweet and will make a great sauce.

If it’s not the summer, use sweet cherry tomatoes  year around.

The reason you’ll love this sauce, is because it takes 5 ingredients and around 10 minutes to make. Just chop up some garlic and slice tomatoes and in a short time your sauce is done. Add some fresh basil for an extra taste of summer.

Tomato-Basil Sauce

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup fresh baby tomatoes, cut in half
  • 1 Tablespoon basil, sliced
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Small pinch of salt

Heat the garlic and olive oil in a saute pan until the garlic just gets golden. Then, stand away and add all the tomatoes. Cook for 2-5 minutes or until tomatoes start to break down. Season with salt and add basil at the end. Take off heat until pasta is ready.

When pasta is ready, reheat sauce with pasta for a couple seconds, then serve.
